Dog Training at Roaring Brook Kennels

Roaring Brook Kennels now offers dog training through Deb Monde. Classes offered are:

Puppy Manners: Those early weeks are such a critical developmental period for your pup and the perfect time to start training. This class is for puppies 10-20 weeks old (at the start of class) with at least two sets of vaccinations shots. You will learn how to teach your puppy to walk nicely on a loose lead as well as these commands: sit, down, come, leave it, wait and drop.

Topics during class will include housetraining, crate training, mouthing or biting, jumping up and socialization. Class runs for six weeks for one hour.

Obedience - Basic/Intermediate/Advanced: For the first time, we are offering basic to advanced classes in obedience. You will learn to teach your dog to walk loosely on a lead as well as the following commands: sit, down, come, stay, leave it, wait, settle and drop it. Rigid heeling and off lead reliability will also be taught. Every week offers helpful topics for problem solving and enhancing the health and relationship with your best friend. Class runs for six weeks for one hour.

Agility - Basic/Intermediate/Advanced: Looking for an outlet for your dog's energy? Agility is a great way to exercise, build confidence and just have fun together. The class is on lead and requires basic obedience control at the basic level. As you progress, you move to off leash control and train on more complex courses. Class runs for siz weeks for one hour.

AKC Good Citizen (CGC): This class preps your dog to earn an official certification from the American Kennel Club (AKC). This course prepares you and your dog for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Each of the 10 test items are practiced with emphasis on your dog behaving politely in public, sitting politely for petting, heeling through a crowd of people and reaction to distractions. Price includes CGC test that is administered by an official AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator during the final class. Class runs for five weeks for one hour.

Tracking: This class offers the basics in training for you and your dog to track for human scent. No previous obedience required. Geared toward training the dog at their own level and pace. Whether for fun or AKC competition, it can be a great confidence builder and dogs are able to utilize one of their greatest senses!

Therapy Dog Training: This class prepares you for taking one of the many therapy dog programs that are available in the local area. You will be exposed to walkers, canes and wheelchairs along with children and other people you may be exposed to in your working experience. This class includes field trips to a local facility with an instructor and runs for eight weeks.

Treadmill Fitness: This class is a good way to learn how to use your treadmill with your dog and also provides practical experience with performing general K9 stretches.
